![]() The project includes improvements to a 15 km section of Highway 17 from the Manitoba / Ontario border easterly to west of Rush Bay Road. The project is located within the boundaries of Kenora District, which is located in Northwestern Ontario, just east of Manitoba. The study area is within Ewart and Forgie Townships, approximately 30 km west of the City of Kenora and approximately 160 km east of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The project has followed the Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000) process for Group ‘B’ projects. Separate Transportation Environmental Study Reports (TESRs) for Sections 1 and 2 were filed for public review in November 2009, following preliminary design. The Detail Design Project, initiated late 2009, is nearing completion. The Design and Construction Report (DCR), covering Sections 1 and 2, has been completed and documents how the commitments, as outlined in the TESRs are being addressed. Design features and environmental impact mitigation measures are also described in the Report. The Notice of Submission for the DCR below contains additional information about the public review process and lists key project contacts.
