The Project Team welcomes comments regarding the Highway 17 four-laning Project. All comments received, with the exception of personal information, will become part of the public record.

Initial Notification

Members of the public and external agencies have been notified of project commencement and Public Information Centre (PIC) through a notice advertised in local newspapers and published on this website. Adjacent and directly affected property and business owners were notified of project commencement and public information centre through direct mail.

Notice of Study Commencement

Public Information Centre (PIC) - Tuesday, July 28, 2009 External agency and public consultation will take place throughout the project to present study findings, including Public Information Centres (PICs). The PICs will provide the public and interest groups an opportunity to discuss the project with members of the project team. The first Public Information Centre (PIC) was held on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.

The first PIC provided a study overview for all three sections. The PIC also included, for Sections 1 and 2, the assessment and evaluation of highway improvement alternatives and the recommended improvements for review and comment. The PIC was held as follows:

As this project progresses, further consultation will be held with the relevant external agencies, First Nations, municipal representatives, local community groups and business representatives.

Public Review of the Transportation Environmental Study Reports (TESRs)

TESRs for Section 1 and Section 2 are available for a 30-day public review period ending December 10, 2009. Interested persons are encouraged to review these documents and provide comments. Public Information Centre (PIC) # 2

The second PIC has been arranged to present corridor alternatives for Section 3 (from west of Rush Bay Road to Kenora). We encourage you to attend this PIC to provide us with your views and comments so they can be addressed as the project progresses.
